My Favorite Strength Training Workout

I seem to have done quite a number of training workouts in my day.  I guess owning a personal training studio for close to a decade helps…

This is probably my favorite workout routine:

Mobility Warm Up - I do one set and as many reps as I feel that I need on the day

  • Rib Pulls
  • Downward to Upward dog
  • Downward do, forward lunge to instep
  • Pillar assisted leg lowering
  • Backwards lunge with reach
  • Lateral lunge
  • Shin box with hip extension
  • Sumo squat to stand

Dynamic KB Warm Up - 1 set of 6-10 reps per exercise

  • Swings
  • 1-arm swings
  • Squat to press
  • Front hold split squats
  • Around the world

Strength Complex - 3 sets

  • Barbell front split squats x 6 ea
  • 2 KB kickstand deadlift x 6 ea
  • 2 KB front squats x 10
  • Push ups from KB x 15-20
  • Pull ups x 4-6
  • Supine pull ups x 6-8

Functional Cardio/Core Complex - 2-3 sets

  • Skipping x 60 sec
  • Battle rope drills x 30 sec
  • Split jumps x 8 ea
  • MB v-sit and rotate x 10 ea
  • KB renegade row
