This coming weekend, my girlfriend Jessica and I will be running in the Vancouver Sun Run together. Both of us had participated in different races long before we met, so when she asked me if I wanted to join her for this 10km race, I agreed to it!
Most of us have been caught in that trap before; when at the beginning of a relationship we tend to go out for a few more meals than usual, or enjoy a drink or two more than before, maybe spend more money than usual, or sit around on the weekends watching a few more movies than usual. Having found running as a common interest early on in our relationship has not only helped to improve both our fitness levels, but it has helped us grow our relationship into a healthier one. Since we are both working towards the common goal of completing the Sun Run, it allows us to spend more quality time together and to bond in a different way.
For us, running is a great way to spend time together, and it is easy on the pocket book. I look forward to finding more activities we can do together; Hiking, biking, running and walking are all great ways to stay fit, have fun, and build a happy relationship. Get out there and get moving!
