There is something about Groundwork Athletics that I have been observing lately, and I think is really cool! I was having coffee with a client/friend the other day when she brought up this topic, and it got me thinking about it again.
When a client starts training with me, I always ask what he/she does for a living. It may seem like I am being nosey or curious (that may be part of it!), but in reality it is an important thing for a trainer to know. The better we understand the type of lifestyle you live, the better we can program for it. If you have a job where you sit all day, we will likely work on opening up the hips and pecs, while really working on postural muscles as part of your workout etc…
But, here is what I find really interesting. We have surgeons, CEO's, nurses, teachers assistants, project managers, lawyers, accountants, baristas, salespeople, early childhood educators, entrepreneurs, travel agents, students…etc… who workout in our gym. The great thing is that it doesn't matter who you are, when you come into the gym for a workout, everyone is on a level playing field. Nobody cares what the person next to him/her does for a living because everyone is in there for the same reason: to spend an hour looking after his or her own health.
I haven't worked at other gyms, so I am not sure if this is unique to Groundwork Athletics, but either way I love it! Here at Groundworks we are all doing the same thing, living our lives day in and day out!
