Well here we are, 2015!! Another year has ticked away…
As always, January 1st inevitably brings up the subject of goal setting and positive resolutions; and whether its fitness related or not, I tend to find that when I am on track with my physical goals, the other things I am looking to improve also fall into place.
The physical for me is key. It provides a process that promotes focus, drive, desire, analysis and reward. These attributes then spill into other parts of my life: my relationships, my learning, the managing of my emotions, my business etc.
So even though it is natural for many of us who consistently take care of ourselves physically throughout the year, the actual process of putting some new and tangible goals in place helps me succeed in ways that are immeasurable.
On the heels of a big year preparing for the Tor Des Geants, I am dialling it back a bit and have set 2 physical goals for 2015 that won’t consume my life entirely:
Utah Ragnar Race (April): Approx 200km team trail race. Four team members who run three 16km loops. (www.ragnartrail.com/locations/zion-ut). I will be running this with Kate and two of her Vega coworkers.
Run West Coast Trail (Fall): 70 km in one day. I’ve hiked it and always wanted to run it… not sure if I will be doing this alone or convincing another runner to join me…
By staying focused on these two events I am keeping my body on track, my mind at its most optimal and therefore setting myself up for success in all areas of my life.
What do you have planned for 2015?
