Having been in the industry for nine years now, I have seen it all when it comes to styles of training. From athletic, body building, to endurance; each of these categories have very specific ways of training.
What is common is that they all involve movement. Movement patterns are crucial for all daily functions, inside and outside of the gym. Getting in and out of bed, reaching over head to grab something, to how we position ourselves sitting at a desk. We never think twice about these very particular movements, but in reality, they can make you feel great, horrible or all around uncomfortable.
Why is this so important?? The more control you have over your body, the stronger and more efficient it will work. This will relate to all types of training; stabilizing your core while you swim laps, keeping the shoulders in a safe location when you bench a heavy load.
Now, control and stabilization also help us when we are not moving. Everyone in this day and age, has heard that ‘sitting is the new smoking’. This position naturally tightens up the hip flexors and rounds our shoulders forward. Not good. If that’s the case, shouldn't everyone be doing corrective exercises to counter balance? If not, you will be moving on faulty patterns that can lead to injury. Simple things like playing around with your kids or bending over to pick up your groceries are all ways to keep, Move Better a part of your daily routine. Thanks goodness for corrective exercise, which will equal better results.
So get up and move people!!
