Geordie Wudrick WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. – The BOSTON PIZZA ‘Fan’s Choice’ WHL Player of the Week, as voted on by WHL fans, is forward Geordie Wudrick of the Swift Current Broncos. geordie_3a21

Wudrick scored two goals and added six assists to go with a +4 rating in four games between January 28th and February 3rd, helping the Broncos post a 4-0 record in that span.

On Tuesday, January 29th, the Broncos travelled to the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon to face the Blades in the first half of a home and home series. Wudrick netted two goals, including the game winner, and two assists as the Broncos downed the Blades 7-3. He was also named the games 1st Star. The following evening, Wednesday, January 30th, it was the Broncos turn to play host, as the Blades rolled into the Swift Current’s Credit Union i-plex. Wudrick’s strong defensive play helped lead his Broncos to a 3-2 win over the Blades.

On Friday, February 1st, at the official grand opening of the newly renovated Swift Current Credit Union i-plex, the Broncos took on divisional rivals the Moose Jaw Warriors. Wudrick picked up two assists as the Broncos wowed the packed house with a thrilling 4-3 shoot-out victory.

On Saturday, February 2nd, the Broncos were back in Saskatoon to take on the Blades. Wudrick collected another two assists in the Broncos 3-0 win.

Wudrick, from Abbotsford, British Columbia, is currently in his second full season with the Swift Current Broncos and in the Western Hockey League. He also is eligible for the upcoming 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
