I can't believe the ride season is coming to an end. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a decent amount of success this year both individually and with the team. For many of us October is the start of some cross training. Proper strength and power training is absolutely one of the best ways to improve endurance performance, especially for older athletes. I can honestly say that the time I spent in the gym last off season was essential to this season's success.
At Groundwork Athletics we are offering a program for cyclists (would be good for runners too) that is second to none. The program is designed by Jon Bula (2015 Axel Mercks Champ, and Exercise Physiologist, MSc from UBC).
4 personal training sessions, followed by twice per week small group training for 8-16 weeks depending on your goals for next season.
Program begins October 5th, with the groups beginning October 19th. Maximum of 6 athletes per group. It is possible to start later in the fall, but space is limited.
Group Times: Monday: 7am Wednesday: 7am and 8am Friday: 8am, evening sessions possible if the demand is there.
These training sessions are cycling specific and will be tailored to the demands of cycling and the need for increase strength and power without gaining unwanted mass. Other areas we address are hip, spine, and shoulder mobility, core strength, and upper body strength with the focus on keeping those shoulders healthy.
