As many of you may have heard or seen we held a fat loss challenge throughout the month of November for our clients. The challenge lasted 4 weeks, consisted of 2 weekly PT sessions and 2 weekly cardio workouts which were e-mailed to participants at the start of each week. In addition to this, each week clients had to cook a ‘clean’ recipe from scratch and record all their food and drink intake. The goal - to lose body fat! Some clients saw this as a kickstart to a healthier lifestyle, others saw it as an additional boost to what they were already doing, for whichever reason clients joined the challenge we are pleased to hear that they all shed a couple of % body fat - goal achieved!!
After talking with participants of the challenge one of the main things which helped them stay on track was logging all their food and drink on MyFitnessPal. Programmes like this really make you aware of everything you are consuming from an apple to a lindt chocolate, a coconut water to a beer. Everything we consume contains calories, some are completely empty and do nothing for us. So when logging your food, you may see that you only have 600 calories left for the rest of the day, this suddenly makes you think twice about consuming that lindt chocolate or glass of wine! Particularly challenging at this time of year we know…but stops you piling on the pounds!
With this challenge there were also some bonus incentives. (Whole foods vouchers, cook books, ‘The Stick’ - to provide relief for muscle pain and soreness, and a Pacific Centre voucher!)
After each week of hard work clients received their gift which aimed to:
a) motivate them to continue this healthy stretch into the following week
b) serve as a reward for the hard work completed
It’s always nice to receive a gift after your hard work!
All in all the challenge was a success, one client lost 8.4lbs, another 1.5% of body fat. Goals were also reached for some personal bests in lifting, working for 4 weeks on a challenge encourages people to really push themselves in their workouts, thus meaning they were achieving what they once thought would never be possible!
We will be continuing to hold challenges in 2016! If you feel this may be the kick you need keep your eyes peeled to our events wall in the New Year!
