Congratulations to Shaone Morrisonn who signed a two year contract with the Buffalo Sabres last week. Mo is a seven year NHL vetran who spent the last five seasons with the Washington Capitals. We have been working with him for the past 2 off seasons in our Farm Hockey Training program. CBC story here

We are excited to announce a partnership with UBC Hockey School and The Farm Hockey Training. The Farm is in charge of all the strength & conditioning for participants at their annual hockey school. As a UBC hockey alum I am excited to get involved with the school and teach and educate the kids!

Exercise intensity is extremely important when you are working on your conditioning drills, and is possibly the most important variable in determining the quality of an exercise session. When performing interval training, training for endurance sports, measuring recovery time, or comparing the same run from a previous week a heart rate monitor is a very useful tool. The correct use of a heart rate monitor can allow you to accurately regulate your exercise session and maximize your training efficiency.

I am up in Whitehorse this weekend in our first games of the 2009-10 season. This years Allan Cup Championship is in Fort St John in April and we are in the process of recruiting a team to make our first run at it since the 2006 win. We have a number of new ex-pro’s this year including some guys with NHL experience mixed with a vetran squad and the best goalie in Canada. Follow along anytime at our website Powel River Regals.
Shannon Woeller, who plays soccer for Rutgers University and our Canadian Womens National Team, begins a quest for the NCAA title next weekend. Rutgers finished the season ranked #9 in the country and although they have injuries to 5 starters are confident they have a shot. Good luck Shannon
GWA Athlete Jeff Tambellini scored a hat trick against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night in a 5-0 win that included an unbelievable first goal. He now has 6 goals in the last four games and the Islanders have won 3 straight. It was a special night for Jeff as his dad, Edmonton Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini, was in the stands watching. The Oilers play the Islanders on Monday night. Congratualtions Jeff!
